The Churubusco Quilt Club and the Turtle Days Festival Association are selling raffle tickets for a 60th anniversary commemorative quilt - on display now at Star/Jones Insurance agency - that will be given away during the Turtle Days Festival, June 17-20.

Snowflakes rode out a cold wind as Gale Harris shoved the rowboat out on the choppy water of Fulk’s Lake which covers seven acres of his farm.
We were looking for a monster turtle said to be too wide to get through a door, 500 years old and weighing 500 pounds.

CHURUBUSCO, Ind. - Oscar the Turtle will be this year’s Grand Marshal of the 2009 Turtle Days Festival parade and the 60th anniversary celebration of the Hunt for Oscar.
Oscar will lead the festival parade Saturday night, June 20, at 6 p.m.

CHURUBUSCO, Ind. - Get ready for the The 60th Celebration of “Oscar” 2009!
It’s been 60 years since the Town of Churubusco and people from around the world were captivated by headlines of a giant turtle sighted in a nearby lake. A great search for the massive beast took place, but the turtle - dubbed Oscar by the media - got away.
Every year since, the Town of Churubusco has paid homage to the giant turtle - dubbed Oscar - with the annual Turtle Days Festival. It is the longest continuously-running festival of its kind in Indiana. This year’s festival will take place June 17-20...

Kirk Gray, president of the Churubusco Turtle Days Festival Board of Directors, was more than willing to show up Friday at National City Bank to accept a check for $2,500 toward the 2009 festival. Lee Prescott, branch manager of National City Bank, presented the check to Gray.
Gray said he and his board were thrilled to receive the donation.
